Music Mends Minds is an eleven-year-old, Los Angeles-based, global nonprofit that creates free music therapy and engagement groups for older adults, especially those with neurodegenerative challenges such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, dementia, and PTSD. Born out of love, with the establishment of our flagship 5th Dementia Band, it quickly merged with science and became a shining example of the “Prescriptive Arts.”

Music Mends Minds and Come Together Choir®, a senior enrichment of Key Chorale, have collaborated to expand opportunities for older adults to experience the connection, purpose and joy that come from making music together.

The collaboration brings together two approaches to participatory music. Music Mends Minds creates inclusive opportunities for older adults to connect through shared musical experiences, while the Come Together Choir provides structured, turnkey music toolkits designed specifically for senior singers and those living with Parkinson’s or dementia and their care partners.

Together, the organizations see an opportunity to reach more communities and provide older adults with meaningful ways to participate, connect, and contribute through music.
