Education
Our Education Vision: to partner with our community in order to provide musical opportunities and experiences that will nurture and enhance the educational growth of students of all ages in a lifelong passion and pursuit of music.
What began as a high school choral festival in 2013 has now evolved beyond a single concert collaboration to encompass the entirety of Key Chorale’s extensive music-in-education reaching more than 400 students each season. View our education programs below.

Education Programs
Student Scholar Leadership Program
The Key Chorale Student Scholar Leadership Program provides high school students intending to pursue music beyond high school with the opportunity to perform with Key Chorale for the season at no cost and to receive private voice lessons and mentoring on every aspect of professional musicianship, from auditions to resume-building. Beginning in the 2024-25 season, the Key Chorale Student Scholar Leadership Program will evolve into a three-tiered
internship program. This program will include vocal technique and choral skills training and enhancement through participation in rehearsals and performances of Key Chorale. Interns will also have leadership opportunities.
High School Choral Festival
Each year the High School Choral Festival showcases three Sarasota County high school choirs. Each school’s choir performs independently, then joins the 110+ trained voices of Key Chorale in a festival chorus that is led by Maestro Joseph Caulkins.
Key Notes Express
Key Notes Express is a new collaborative educational initiative of Key Chorale and Upward Notes to provide interactive choral and instrumental music experiences to underserved elementary students at the Desoto Boys and Girls Club of Manatee.
Visible Men Academy
Since 2018, Key Chorale has partnered with Visible Men Academy, a charter school for at-risk K-5 boys, to provide a music program and experiences for the 100+ students who would not have any formal musical experiences without our involvement. Key Chorale singers and educators conduct hands-on music activities with students during a five-week program each semester.
