2015 Perfect Pitch Award Recipient Dolly Jacobs

Dolly Jacobs is the co-founder of The Circus Arts Conservatory and world-renowned circus aerialist known by many as “Queen of the Air.” In 2015, Dolly was awarded a prestigious National Heritage Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts, the nation’s highest arts honor recognizing artistic excellence and contributions to traditional arts heritage.

Daughter of the legendary clown Lou Jacobs, Dolly began developing her Roman rings act under the guidance of her godmother, Margie Geiger. She made her solo debut in 1976 and has performed in the Circus Festival of Monte Carlo twice and was recognized as a “Dame de Cirque.” In 1988, Dolly received the coveted Silver Clown Award, dolly_fbpresented to her by Prince Albert of Monaco.

Dolly and husband, fellow circus veteran Pedro Reis, combined their experience, passion and dreams to create Circus Sarasota, a one-ring European style circus that is the only professional, not-for-profit circus in the state of Florida. Dolly has continued to perform as well as teach young performers the aerial arts. Her leadership and community focus, as well as her contribution to the circus arts realm, has been honored through placements in the Circus Ring of Fame on St. Armands Circle and the “Circus Celebrity Award” from the John and Mable Ringling Circus Museum.

The Circus Arts Conservatory and Key Chorale have collaborated year-round since the 2011 season combining artistry of both the musical and circus disciplines to create a breathtaking new art form, Cirque des Voix®. Plan to attend this season’s production combining choral music with circus acts and the Cirque Orchestra to provide a level of awe and sophistication under the big top.
