Key chorale album, AriseKey Chorale, Sarasota’s Symphonic Chorus, released their album, “Arise – Choral Music of Ola Gjeilo,” which showcases over 100 voices performing music of Ola Gjeilo and other contemporary composers, highlighting themes of beauty, transformation, and sacred harmony. It includes two works commissioned by Key Chorale from Ola Gjeilo: The Lake Isle II, featuring the composer at the piano and guitarist Kristian Kvalvaag, and Arise, with full orchestra.
The title track, Arise, is an original suite by world-renowned composer Ola Gjeilo, commissioned by Key Chorale to accompany Dolly Jacobs, 2015 NEA Fellow, co-founder of the Circus Arts Conservatory, Key Chorale’s collaborative partner for Cirque des Voix®, and world-class aerialist. The commission premiered on March 24, 2017 at Cirque des Voix® in Sarasota, FL, and was performed again at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. in July 2017.
This album was made possible by a generous gift from Peter and Francine Gray.
