Tomorrow’s Voices Today Educational Outreach Program
Winner of Chorus America’s 2020 Award for Education and Community Engagement
Our Education Vision: to partner with our community in order to provide musical opportunities and experiences that will nurture and enhance the educational growth of students of all ages in a lifelong passion and pursuit of music.
What began as a high school choral festival in 2013 has now evolved beyond a single concert collaboration to encompass the entirety of Key Chorale’s extensive music in education programs throughout the season. Of the many once in a lifetime opportunities Key Chorale has provided to music students, here are some of our favorite highlights:
- Performing live the world premiere of an original musical score
- Recording the world premiere of a new commission for an album
- Performing under the Big Top with full orchestra and world-class circus artists, both in Sarasota and on tour in Washington, D.C. at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival
- Performing in the National Cathedral
- Receiving in-classroom coaching from a professional conductor
- Performing with a 200-voice festival chorus of all ages in the annual Tomorrow’s Voices Today concert
“Key Chorale has made a consistent commitment to the future by working with high school choirs of the now. Through dedication and nurturing, Maestro Caulkins and the Key Chorale has taken an active role in engaging young people. Thank you for making a lasting impact—today and tomorrow.”
Brian Hersh, Program Director for Any Given Child in Sarasota Public Schools
Student Scholar Program
The Key Chorale Student Scholar program provides high school students intending to pursue music beyond high school with the opportunity to perform with Key Chorale for the season at no cost and to receive private voice lessons and mentoring on every aspect of professional musicianship, from auditions to resume-building.
“This is my first year with Key Chorale and I cannot express how meaningful this experience has been. As I prepare for college, I know that the opportunities provided by the Key Chorale will give me an edge against my competition. It has widened my knowledge of repertoire, improved my sightreading skills, and taught me to be accountable for my own music. Singing with such a professional choir has taught me responsibility and I don’t think many other students can say that – unlike myself. Thanks to Key Chorale I know I will be prepared for college and beyond.”

Visible Men Academy
2018 marked the beginning of a new partnership with Visible Men Academy, a charter school for at-risk K-5 boys, in which Key Chorale singers and educators conducted hands-on music activities with students during a five-week after school program, culminating in a final performance for family and friends.
“The Key Chorale has brought music education to our school and has enriched the lives of our students…Music education helps our students increase their academic achievement, and a sense of community in the classroom which benefits our students’ success.”
Dawnyelle Singleton, Visible Men Academy Community Relations Director
