The launch of Key Chorale’s spectacular new CD, “Invocations” The CD features music performed at our 25th Anniversary Gala concert, including the world premiere recording of Dale Warland’s “Invocations - Prayers for the Earth” featuring clarinetist Bharat Chandra.

The regional premiere (and only the second U.S. performance) of James Whitbourn’s “Annelies,” a setting for chorus and chamber orchestra of the diaries of Anne Frank, one of the most compelling stories to come out of the cataclysm that was World War II. The performance will feature Kathy Pyeatt, soprano, who was featured in the Chorale’s hugely successful “Bach to Bach” last year, and musicians from the Sarasota Orchestra. The concert will follow by a week the Sarasota Ballet’s performances of James Buckley’s “Anne Frank,” his ballet on the same subject. Plans for a collaboration, including an event featuring the composer and the choreographer are underway.

Unboxed: Brahms

In an area premiere, Key Chorale will present Johannes Brahms’beloved “German Requiem” in the composer’s own arrangement for mixed chorus and piano duet. This “Unboxed Brahms” will be held in one of our community’s architectural treasures, the Municipal Auditorium, and will feature a relaxed atmosphere specially designed for this event.

This event will launch our 25th Anniversary CD, “Invocations”, and make a contribution to help the victims of the Gulf oil disaster. A $150 Patron ticket includes a CD ($25 value) and a $50 contribution to Mote Marine for the many victims.
